Gold prices slipped by ₹10 to ₹78,700 per 10 grams in major Indian cities in early trade on Monday due to weak demand from jewellers.

Gains in the metal in early Asian trade in global markets and a correction in the US dollar following US manufacturing PMI data supported gold while lukewarm demand restricted its gains.

The rupee falling to record low levels against the US dollar is also supporting the metal.

Spot gold rose by 0.08% at $2,641 an ounce in early Asian trade. The metal moved in a tight range of $2,638 an ounce to $2,647 an ounce in early trade.

Silver prices retreated by ₹100 to ₹91,400 per kg in major Indian cities on Monday due to poor offtake by industrial units. The metal had gained ₹1,100 per kg in the previous session on Saturday in line with global trends and a weak rupee making imports costlier.

Spot silver was marginally down by 0.05% to $29.60 an ounce in early Asian trade. The metal moved between $29.58 an ounce and $29.75 an ounce in early trade.
